New Charity Concert Ideas

Recently, I've taken an interest in celebrity concerts. Not like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, who rely on crazy outfits and special effects to keep an audience's interest, but people like Barbra Streisand and Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett who can sing one note and keep an audience captivated for hours. So, it got me thinking. I've been wanting to raise some money for the MAGIC foundation and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, so why can't I do my own series of concerts to benefit them? Of course, I won't be able to do them back to back or anything, but I've come up with a few ideas...

1) Solo concert.
Naturally, I've always wanted to do something like this. Just me, the music, and the microphone. Maybe have a guest or two, some fun surprises thrown in, things like that to jazz it up a bit.

2) Girls of Hall B.
At OCU, our dorm room was CONSTANTLY filled with the sounds of voices raised in song. Sometimes it was good...other times...well, I'll just leave that to the imagination. But still, we always had a great time singing together, so why shouldn't we put some use to it? Julie, Galen, Karly? What do ya say?

3) Concert with Julie.
My dear friend from OCU is oh-so talented and lovely, so I'd LOVE to get to perform with her. I'm currently talking to her about doing a duo concert (think Carol and Julie at Carnegie Hall) with some cute songs, maybe a medley, and a little good old-fashioned variety show banter.

4) Variety concert.
This is my first venture, coming up in January. You can find the details on Facebook under the name, "An Evening of MAGIC." It will consist of many talented singers, dancers, comedians, pianists, trumpeters, you name it. There will be refreshments for you to nibble on as you watch our amazing performers.
