So, tonight, I posted a new video on youtube. Two minutes after it uploaded, I refreshed the page and found that I had over 200 views and about 150 comments. All mindless hate from trolls.
Until someone told me what was going on, I almost started crying! The things these people were saying were just awful! I can't even repeat them here, because they're that vulgar.
I hope everyone will join me in taking a stand against trolling, and reporting them every chance you get. Every time you see someone getting attacked, do something. If nothing can be done, reassure the person being attacked that its not personal, and just a failed attempt at getting attention. Its ridiculous that people have THAT little to do with their time that they spend it attacking innocent people for posting a video.

New Charity Concert Ideas
Recently, I've taken an interest in celebrity concerts. Not like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, who rely on crazy outfits and special effects to keep an audience's interest, but people like Barbra Streisand and Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett who can sing one note and keep an audience captivated for hours. So, it got me thinking. I've been wanting to raise some money for the MAGIC foundation and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, so why can't I do my own series of concerts to benefit them? Of course, I won't be able to do them back to back or anything, but I've come up with a few ideas...
1) Solo concert.
Naturally, I've always wanted to do something like this. Just me, the music, and the microphone. Maybe have a guest or two, some fun surprises thrown in, things like that to jazz it up a bit.
2) Girls of Hall B.
At OCU, our dorm room was CONSTANTLY filled with the sounds of voices raised in song. Sometimes it was good...other times...well, I'll just leave that to the imagination. But still, we always had a great time singing together, so why shouldn't we put some use to it? Julie, Galen, Karly? What do ya say?
3) Concert with Julie.
My dear friend from OCU is oh-so talented and lovely, so I'd LOVE to get to perform with her. I'm currently talking to her about doing a duo concert (think Carol and Julie at Carnegie Hall) with some cute songs, maybe a medley, and a little good old-fashioned variety show banter.
4) Variety concert.
This is my first venture, coming up in January. You can find the details on Facebook under the name, "An Evening of MAGIC." It will consist of many talented singers, dancers, comedians, pianists, trumpeters, you name it. There will be refreshments for you to nibble on as you watch our amazing performers.
Tying the Knot: 1
Well, the wedding went swimmingly. Although quite chaotic behind the scenes, everything went smooth as glass. Monica looked gorgeous in not just one dress - but two. Grace (her daughter) wore a custom dress that mimicked Monica's, but with a more playful, youthful spin on it. The cake, although from Walmart, was astounding. It tasted great and looked fantastic. The flower girls were...energetic...to say the least. As for my performances, they went rather well. I was nervous as heck but I pulled through, I suppose. What they say is definitely true: the most difficult people to perform for are your family. And here I was, standing up in front of almost my entire family, singing my heart out! I ended up singing Edelweiss, and A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, per Monica's request. The response was fantastic. Among the generous and lovely comments I received that day, there were two from total strangers that really made my day. One older man said, announcing to his whole table, that I had a golden throat and was one of the greatest talents of the generation. Another older person came up to me asked if I wanted to be in show business. Naturally I said yes. She smiled and guaranteed that I would make it there. I didn't know this woman at all and she had already become an influential person in my life, just by saying those encouraging words. Every person who encourages me that way is considered influential to my career, because with every kind word, I feel more and more obliged and determined to reach my goals.

OCU 2011
Alright guys, it's opening night. In a short week and a half, with the help of our director, counselors, costumer, techs, music director and choreographer, were putting on a full scale musical. Well, not really full scale, considering it's a junior version, but we have full sets, props, and costumes. The other kids here are all ridiculously talented.
Each day here has the same routine. We wake up at 7:20 (unless it's a Saturday or Sunday) and then we go to breakfast at about 8. Then by 9, were in rehearsal until lunch, then go back after until dinner. If were lucky we don't have to go back after dinner, but usually we'd go back for an hour or so. One night, we were out till nine. Other nights, we'd go home right after dinner. After we get back to the dorms, we hang out either in the lobby or our rooms, if we feel like just hanging out.
We've also had a couple master classes. One on acting with Dr. David Herendeen, and one on singing with JoBeth Moad. Both were extraordinary, and I learned more in that thirty minutes than I have in my lifetime.
Being here at OCU is definitely an experience I'm glad I've had. Its really taken my passion of musical theatre to a new level. Here, I learned to develop a belt, hit a high C, breathe properly, and hit cues correctly.
So in conclusion, I WILL be crying when I leave here. No doubt about it.

Julie Andrews
If I had to pick one person I'd call my idol, I'd hands down pick Julie Andrews. She could sing (with a four-octave range, might I add), dance, and act with a certain level of class that few had. Now, she is known as one of the classiest ladies in the entertainment business.
One thing people don't realize about Julie Andrews is that she really is as sweet and sugary as she appears in "Sound of Music." I've watched several of her home movies posted on youtube and a documentary which showed some cute videos of her and her family, like these...

Can I come over for a picnic, Julie? :)
So sweet.
She's starred in so many of our favorites, like "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins", and she also originated the role of Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady", my personal favorite musical. At one point, she hosted a show called "The Julie Andrews Hour", which was a Carol-Burnett-esque type of show, filled with songs and skits from shows she had been in. It wasn't long lived, but it was extremely charming and witty. Take a look at these videos:
Ah, the 70's.
Unfortunately, in 1998, Julie underwent a standard throat surgery that rendered her unable to sing. It was known as one of the greatest tragedies in the history of musical theatre. Her husband, Blake Edwards, told the public that she would probably never sing again. But when she starred in the Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement alongside Anne Hathaway, she proved him wrong. Sure, the song she sang was low and simple, but for many, it was a historic moment in the entertainment business. According to Gary Marshall, the director of the movie, many "tattooed-up, tough guys" were tearing up, as well as everyone else in the room.
If I were able to post every Julie Andrews video I know of on this blog, I would. But, I can't find all of them for you, can I? They're out there, all you have to do is look. But, I'll leave you with one more enchanting video, just because I'm nice. ;)
Makes me cry every time.
My "Glee Radio" Experience
How often is it that an undiscovered artist is asked to be featured in a radio show? Not very often. Mind you, this show isn't K-Hits or anything like that. It's a small, independently run online talk show called "Glee Radio", and is hosted on blogtalkradio.com. I'd posted this youtube video...
...and the host (also a friend of mine, Christy) saw it, and loved it so much she decided she wanted me on her show. I figured she just meant for a few minutes, but then I discovered that she'd already set up the show and the title was "Michela Anderson showcases her talent!" I couldn't believe what I was reading. The WHOLE thing is about me?! I thought over and over. Sure, it sounds a bit pompous reading it out loud, but it was true! I could not process the idea that someone thought I was that interesting to have a whole show about me.
The show itself was so much fun. I was so nervous before-hand, but once it started, I gained my confidence and just started having fun with it. I ended up singing 3 songs, Wouldn't It Be Loverly, I Could Have Danced All Night, and Edelweiss. I think nervousness does something good for me, because I didn't mess up very much at all. The interviews went well, I answered the questions to the best of my ability. When we got to the caller portion of the show and we still had about 10 minutes left, I started to panic, thinking nobody was gonna call in. After a little encouragement to our listeners from Christy and myself, the calls started pouring in. First it was one, then two, then four, then all the way up to seven! Everyone who called in absolutely made my week. It was so great to know that I have that kind of support from friends, family, and even total strangers. Then the show ended, and my Facebook absolutely BLEW UP. I was getting wall posts, comments, messages, and IMs left and right! I was typing nonstop for about 20 minutes. But I loved every second of it.
A special thank you to Christy, the host of Glee Radio for giving me this opportunity. It was a blast!
You can find the podcast on iTunes (just search Glee Radio) or on the website, and I will post the show below...
